Marvel Comics fans have been patiently awaiting the arrival of Captain Marvel. From the moment Nick Fury paged the cosmic heroine at the end of Infinity War, moviegoers have wondered not only what Brie Larson will look like as Carol Danvers in the role but also what she will do in the film.
Now the fans have a real idea of what to expect, thanks to Entertainment Weekly. The magazine released exclusive images online and the Marvel Studios fanbase is surely happy with what they see.
Gone is the dark blue costume that surfaced online several months ago. In its place is the familiar red and blue, which are the captain’s signature colors. Larson looks confident, she looks comfortable and most importantly, she looks the part.
Other photos include Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos and Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser. Guardians of the Galaxy fans will recognize Ronan as the heavy from Volume 1, and Marvel Comics fans will of course recognize Talos as an infamous Skrull alien.
Law’s role is that of Danvers’ Starforce commander, who guides her through her newfound powers. Another top character not included in EW’s photos is the aforementioned Nick Fury, of course portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson. Fury is the one that will bridge the gap between Captain Marvel and The Avengers.
Phil Coulson fans can rest easy of course because Clark Gregg will reprise his role as the lovable S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, though he is also not among the photos. The story of Captain Marvel will reportedly take place during the 1990’s, long before Earth’s Mightiest Heroes suited up on the silver screen.
Marvel will use the relatively new technology of de-aging both Jackson and Gregg for the film. This tech was of course expertly used in Captain America: Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 and Ant-Man.
